This has been a busy start to 2024, and the end of 2023 was no different. In October last year, sounds like such a long time ago, I completed my latest qualification; “Level 3 Certificate in Installing, Testing and Ensuring Compliance of Electrical Installations in Dwellings” and this one qualification was the Holy Grail for me, it meant that I could finally get onto the path of electrical stardom!! Signing off my own electrical work and being a CPS registered electrician, I am now NAPIT and Trustmark registered and this opens up a whole new world of possibilities for my business and myself.
Along with my day-to-day jobs, installing extractor fans, lights and sockets and not to mention family commitments, I’ve also been busy progressing and developing my electrical business. The one thing I couldn’t do, until now, was “sign off” my own electrical work, I have had to go via the council Building Control (as some of you will know) and not only does this take time, but costs between £197 - £300 per notifiable job… and it’s been a right pain and frankly, a bureaucratic nightmare!
What do I mean by registered? It means that your local electrician is now signed up to a Competent Persons Scheme (or CPS), it just means that as a customer of Speller’s Sparks Electrical Services you can rest assured that I am committed to offer nothing other than a top quality service to you. You cannot become a Napit registered electrician (or NICEIC registered) without showing competence and having the right qualifications. It’s been a long and winding road from when I left my teaching career and I am personally very proud of this achievement. I’ve still got learning to do, and I will continue this, but for now I’d like to share why I believe you should only use qualified and registered electricians who all show extra commitment to their trade and profession.
What does Napit say about their registered electricians:
“It is important that you get work done by competent people working for businesses who are committed to quality, safety and customer care. NAPIT certificated scheme members have demonstrated their competence, they hold the necessary insurances and have the right processes and procedures to assure compliance.”
What are we able to do that a “handyman” cannot, or won’t want to do:
Able to complete work safely and to legally required standards
Regularly assessed to provide assurance of their ongoing competence
Capable of working to the very latest health and safety regulations
Able to provide you with the necessary certificates to demonstrate the regulatory compliance of the work they do. These certificates may be requested by tenants, insurance providers and solicitors and may be needed if you are looking to let or come to sell your property.
So, there we have it! I would like to thank all of my customers, past, present and future for the ongoing support that you have provided my business and I. I look forward to seeing you around the local area and helping you!
